Agaya Gangai Waterfalls
Located near Arapaleeswarar Temple, Agaya Gangai Waterfalls are located at legendry Kolli Hills. Based upon the height of the Agaya Gangai Waterfalls, it is one of the top 5 waterfalls in India. Near the Arapaleeswarar Temple and on the top of Kolli Hills, a jungle stream known as the Panchanathi cascades down the 300 ft waterfall which is widely known as the Agya Gangai Waterfall or Ganges of the Sky. This waterfall is of River Aiyaru, situated in a valley which is surrounded by the mountains on all sides.
While you are traveling to this place, you can also explore the beauty of the valley, where the mountain peaks are surrounded by the lust green vegetation. It is believed that the Paambaati Siddar’s cave is located near the Agaya Gangai waterfalls.
The Relation between the Agya Gangai Waterfalls and Kolli Hills:
The historic significance of the Kolli Hills, where Agya Gangai Waterfalls are situated cannot be underestimated. One of the seven greatest philanthropists of the Tamil Nadu in ancient times, Valvil Ori ruled this region around 200 A.D. Today also, his exploits which consisted of valor and marksmanship are sung by the various poets. Also, they are the popular part of the folklore in these areas. In the folklore, it has been mentioned that Valvil Ori killed many animals like a deer, a bear, a lion and a boar in a single arrow.
The local people believe that Chanakya who was the author of the famous work, Arthashastra was born and brought up in these areas.

As per the admirers, Agaya Gangai waterfalls resemble a torrential 300 foot milk shower. IN fact, it is multi-tiered waterfall. As you get closer to the place, you can see different shades of the waterfall through various tiers from different point of views. Agaya Gangai waterfalls are located near the Arapaleeswarar Temple. The temple is just a steep set of thousand plus steps away from the foot of the waterfall.
You can visit the Agaya Gangai waterfalls when you are going to visit Arapaleeswarar Temple. You can descend by the steep steps when visiting the waterfall. It will take only 20-30 minutes. On the way, you can enjoy the lush green scenery. This hike to Agaya Gangai waterfalls itself is a great experience for you as you can get to see some awesome views of the thick forests in the valley, green Eastern Ghats and long views of the different tiers of the Agaya Gangai waterfalls which are gushing down the dense vegetation.
If you are tired, you can stop and rest at the couple of view points, which are provided for the relaxation of the tourists. Also, these viewpoints provide stunning views of the valleys and the waterfalls. But, remember, that you cannot purchase any food or water on the way to Agaya Gangai waterfalls. As the entire terrain is green, the temperature of these areas is slightly lower than outside areas and humidity is slightly high.
